File extension pem information

File extension PEM refers to the Privacy Enhanced Mail Security Certificate, which is specified as an encrypted and encoded file type. This file is borne out of the (PSRG) Privacy and Security Research Group, of the organization IRTF. The cornerstone of this file is transformative procedures for messages of RFC 822 in such manner as to offer optional confidentiality, data origin legitimacy, and integrity. This file can be put to use with either asymmetric or symmetric mechanisms for cryptographic key allocation. The definition of this file is through a document series.
Because public-key or asymmetric mechanisms work better with the internet’s heterogeneously administered, large-scale environment, these are the only standardized mechanisms to date. This file that references file extension PEM adopts the standard form known as the (Directory Authentication Framework) CCITT X.509 recommendation. The first of the document series that define this file is procedures for message processing definition. The second definition is this file’s adopted public-key system for certification. The third offers identifiers and definitions for a number of algorithms used by this file.
